To be honest, when we launched DigitalSynopsis.com, we had no idea it was possible to make money online. Three years and a gazillion pageviews later, it’s safe to say that success in blogging (like any other business) depends on how much you’re willing to give to it. As cliche as it sounds, there are no shortcuts. What pays off eventually is perseverance, dedication and the ability to observe and implement what works in your niche. Affiliate marketing is where you help sell the products, or services of someone else’s goods. They pay you for every product you help them sell, and you offer them your time and writing talents. In return you can earn a percentage of a persons purchase or a set amount of dollars per transaction. The more products you help to sell the more money you can be making from home.
Often, what happens is that we run into unscrupulous Internet Marketers (IMs) who have less-than altruistic intentions of extracting money from you rather than helping you to make it. However, this isn't something new. People have been falling for networking marketing, pyramid schemes, and affiliate marketing scams since before the start of the net.
Becoming a Virtual Assistant is not just a legit work-from-home opportunity – it’s a position you can build a business and career on! Virtual assistants can work with a company that specializes in outsourcing assistants to various clients or you can fly solo and set up your own VA company. Each path has its own benefits and drawbacks – for example, if you work for a VA company, they do all the work of finding you clients. But they also take a cut of what clients pay for your services. Becoming a VA is a great option if you have many different office skills – or writing skills, research skills, agenda-planning skills and more. My very first remote job was working as a Virtual Assistant and I have tons of resources on my site to help you.

Just as a personal example, I own a website called DogFoodInsider.com. Most of the articles on that site have been written using freelancers I found on Elance.com. So, I would post a job on Elance saying that I need reviews of dog food. A bunch of freelance writers would come back with how much they charge, their experience, why they are an expert with dog food and writing dog food reviews, and then I can go ahead and choose from the list who I will hire. So, Elance.com is great, anybody can join, and in fact, any of the above services are open to any freelance writers.
Manage social media for businesses. If you have a knack for social media, you could potentially get paid to manage various platforms for others. Many businesses are too busy running day-to-day operations to stay on top of their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest accounts – and will pay someone with the knowledge and time to do it for them. To find these jobs, ask local businesses and check sites like UpWork.com and Problogger.net.
One common way to do it is to create a niche site – a site generally focused on one type of product or sub-market – and populate the site with relevant articles, with affiliate links embedded.
