If you’re serious about making money selling things online, it’s pretty much impossible to not recommend Shopify. The platform gives you everything you need to get your online store up and running in less than a day including a custom domain, beautiful templates (so you don’t need design skills), secure payment options, and they can even take care of marketing and shipping for you. Whether you’re promoting your own products, designs, or curating other products for people in your niche, Shopify is the best option for powering your online store.
17. Amazon – Have you heard of FBA? It stands for “Fulfilled by Amazon” and it’s getting pretty popular. Basically, you buy products (in bulk is best) and ship them to Amazon for them to store. When your products sell, Amazon packs them up, ships them out and sends you the money (after taking their cut). There are people making a full-time living from FBA, while others just do it for some extra money.
If you’re looking for inspiration, my friend Michelle Schroeder-Gardner of the website Making Sense of Sense has become the expert on all things affiliate marketing. Michelle earns more than $100,000 per month from her blog and the bulk of her income comes from affiliate sales. Michelle has had so much success with affiliate marketing that she even has her own course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.
Here’s the most comprehensive list of ways to make money online you’ve ever come across. From blogging and affiliate marketing to paid surveys and freelance, this excellent infographic from Survey Spencer just about covers it all. From our own experience, we can tell you about blogging – it’s not easy to make money in the beginning. But if you stick to your niche and share interesting content regularly for over a year, you can develop a loyal subscriber base. When the traffic starts rolling in, so does the money. Six figure earnings (and beyond) are very much possible. SEO and social media play a crucial role of course.
Drop shipping is another great ‘hands-off’ way to sell products. Firstly you will need to find businesses that sell products in your niche that offer a drop shipping service. Then you will need to create a website promoting and selling the products. When you make a sale, you take the payment on your site and then the manufacturer ships the goods to the buyer. The profit comes from charging a higher rate than the manufacturer, and if you are selling a high number of products this can quickly add up to a healthy revenue.

Making money online will take work and dedication.  This series is not meant to be a get rich quick scheme on how to make money online.  You will often do just as much if not more work as your day job.  The difference is that you will love what you’re because it’s something that allows you to control your time while doing something you love or are at the very least skilled or interested in doing.
Take advantage of the growing delivery trend and sign up for a service like Instacart, UberEats, Postmates or Amazon Flex. You get paid per delivery, in most cases, and can even earn tips. A car isn’t always required — Postmates lets you use a bike, scooter or your own two feet to make deliveries — but a background check almost always is part of the deal. Learn more about how to get started with Amazon Flex, UberEats and Instacart.
Social networking and social media is a great way to share your content, gain followers, and in general, increase your presence online.  There are, however, ways to make money by sharing someone else’s content with your followers via Twitter.  I generally don’t consider this to be a great way to make money online, but it can be lucrative for those who have a big following. (Side note: I tried to see if there was a way to sell Facebook “likes” or get paid to share content on Facebook, and couldn’t find anything.)
I’m a huge fan of blogging because I love writing and connecting with people all over the world. To give you an idea of what is possible with blogging, DollarSprout.com is part of a group of blogs that routinely brings in over $50,000 a month. While it takes time to build your blog up to that income level, you can get the initial set up done in under 30 minutes (no experience needed).
As you might guess, I think the #1 way to make money online is affiliate marketing. This is my all-time favorite method to make money online. You can make money selling ohter peoples products and services. In other words, you don’t have to deal with any customer service, you don’t ahve tod eal with storing any products, you don’t have to deal with any payment processing, and you don’t even ahve to hire any employees. Just create a website, get out htere on social media, start to advertise a little bit, and you will earn commissions on selling other peoples products.
Coming in at number 2 for the best legit ways to make money online is by selling your own products or services. So many people have skills or they can make something that other people want. For example, my sister is phenomenal at making specialty cakes. Not just regular cakes, but they actually have almost a whole scene on them with different people and houses or whatever you want, she can make it. She could either sell training programs or she can sell cakes themselves. People can request cakes and go on her website and request certain things. Not only can she do this for people and make money at it, but she’s making a living doing something she really likes. It’s turning a hobby into a career.
If you are more confident in your skills, you can also market directly to websites and blogs. You can contact the sites by email to market your services. That will also enable you to select the specific types of sites that you are more comfortable working with. Since there are literally thousands of websites and blogs on the web, the potential market is limitless.
Rent out a parking spot. If you live in a busy or congested area and have parking to spare, you might be able to rent out your parking space for some quick cash when you’re not using it. Simply advertise your open parking space online including details on the location, whether it’s covered or uncovered, and your desired hourly, weekly, or monthly fee. If you want, you can even use a site like Just Park or download the Spot App to reach more potential customers.
Build up a following on your Instagram account and you could quickly be making extra money online. Major brands, gear companies, and even startups are willing to shell out $500-$5,000+ per post to get in front of your audience. While it’s getting harder and harder to build a massive Instagram audience, if you already have a solid niche and are posting quality content regularly, with a few small tweaks you can make yourself an influencer.
